Colin's Isle
Colin's Isle
Downstream of the White Cart and Black Cart Waters' confluence, this island is marked as Colin's Isle. The island was originally much larger, but now consists of this largest island and two small islets just downstream.

A 'Colin' is the local Renfrewshire name for a Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) and the island does provide an ideal habitat. From memory, a book I read many years ago also put down a theory about the island being formed around an old abandoned boat.
