The picture is taken looking North West the factory on the right is the Tilda rice works.
The sunken pontoon barges in the river are of concrete construction. They are a survivor of the Mulberry Harbour shipped back from Normandy. This is confirmed by a plaque at Rainham Station TQ5282 : London Loop Plaque.
