With the bank of Waithe Beck in the foreground.
Blow wells are artesian springs where water under pressure escapes from the chalk through structural weaknesses in the boulder clay.
The 4 blow wells used to provide water for Cleethorpes, but bore holes (on the same site) are now used to reduce the risk of contamination from the associated ponds (well, the kids do swim in them).
Howevever Tetney gets its water not from here but from a bore at Fulstow.
