Blow wells are artesian springs where water under pressure escapes from the chalk through structural weaknesses in the boulder clay. New ones appear in the area from time to time, and this is almost certainly an extra one adjacent to the Tetney Blow Wells Nature Reserve. The 4 Anglian Water blow wells in the reserve used to provide water for Cleethorpes, but bore holes (on the same site) are now used to reduce the risk of contamination from the associated ponds (well, the kids do swim in them).
Howevever Tetney gets its water not from here but from a bore at Fulstow.
