Papist Hall on Papist Hill, Lower Denby
This house - called Papist Hall was originally called Papist Hill Farm and legend says that there is a secret passage from it to Gunthwaite Hall. In the seventeenth century it was in the possession of a resolute and influential Roman Catholic family when puritanism predominated in the local area.
