There are several waymarked trails in the estate (see NS3673 : Woodland path); this is not one of them, but there was a path of sorts here. As the picture shows, the nature of the woods changes abruptly at this point.
Finlaystone House and Estate

Finlaystone House (c.1764), standing on the site of an earlier castle, was originally the work of John Douglas, but alterations and additions were made c.1872, and more extensively, by John James Burnet, from 1898-1903.
