This concrete structure is a former stone crushing plant, used for crushing stone from the local Kittling Hill quarry NU1635 : Budle Crag Quarry. A report on the industrial ruin undertaken by the Peregrini Lindisfarne project LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) suggests that the plant was operational between 1911 and 1915.
