This terrace, which flanks the entrance to Cleaver Square (TQ3178 : Cleaver Square), was built in 1787-90 to the designs of Michael Searles. It's unusual to find an architect's name, particularly one as prominent as Searles, attached to a suburban Georgian terrace. The buildings either side of the entrance have gables. Entrances in linking sections - Searles often placed doors in such a way, sometimes concealed, so as not to disrupt the main facade. Coade stone vermiculated rustication to the doorcases (Coade stone is much in evidence in this area as Eleanor's Coade factory was in Vauxhall). Grade II listed.
The far block has been an art school since the 1880s and is currently occupied by the City and Guilds of London Art School.
