The former Church of Scotland theological college, now converted to flats and B-listed: LinkExternal link . It was built to compete with Christ's College (the Free Church training college at the far end of Union Street), when the established church and the free kirk in Aberdeen were locked in mortal combat in the 1860s and 1870s (see Religion and Social Class: the Disruption Years in Aberdeen by A. A. Maclaren). The architect was Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, who went on to design the facade of Marischal College.
