Fireclay Quarry
Fireclay Quarry
The clay from this quarry is taken to Uddingston to be made into bricks. There is about a two year's supply of clay left at the present rate of working. When mineral extraction finishes here, the area is to be planted in trees.
The clay deposit lies just beyond the mound of overburden on the right. The mound in the distance and beyond the end of the road, is the location of the opencast workings shown in Photo No.366318 which are presently being used as a tip for rocky material from the clay quarry.
