Winchester Cathedral, Crypt Statue
Winchester Cathedral, Crypt Statue
The Crypt of Winchester Cathedral is used to store many items of masonry removed from the building during renovations. This is a 13th century statue of St Swithun which was removed during the 19ct. Considering it was allowed to weather for 600 years it is in remarkably good condition. For an example of the effect of corrosive atmosphere refer to picture SU4829 : Winchester Cathedral, Crypt Statue.
