Gundulf was one of Rochester's earliest Bishops, and his statue is in a niche on the west front of the cathedral. He is depicted holding not Rochester Castle, but the White Tower in London which he also built.

Rochester Cathedral is the second oldest cathedral in the country, dating back to the 7th century. It is a Grade I listed building and open to the public.
