River Feshie - looking upstream
River Feshie - looking upstream
The Feshie in this area runs through a fairly wide, broad-bottomed valley; the river is relatively shallow and easy enough to ford in these low conditions. No doubt after heavy rain (or following snow melt) it would be a completely different proposition. From time to time, the meanders come up against a bank of glacial moraine, such as the one on the left of this picture, and erode shingle and boulders into the river. In this particular case, the river has then moved back away from the moraine bank, and taken a course that's lead to the outside of the bend being grassed-over.
