Goathland Station
Goathland Station
This station originally opened 1845 after the line had been acquired by the Yorkshire & North Midland Railway, and this new alignment was constructed to avoid a steep incline. The line between Pickering and Whitby passed through several owners over the decades until it was closed down in 1965. A preservation group was formed as soon as 1967, and it was reopened as a steam heritage line by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in 1973.
