Thornton Depot
Thornton Depot
27001 stabled with a class 20 on Thornton Depot. The Railfreight Depot opened in 1956, in anticipation of increased coal traffic from nearby Rothes Colliery, simultaneously replacing the cramped sidings of Thornton Junction. Sadly there were geological problems at the colliery and the new coal failed to materialise. in the background on the right are the white painted buildings of Corsbie Hall House on Strathore Road.
