Forth Bridge Memorial
Forth Bridge Memorial
This memorial which was unveiled by First Minister Alex Salmond on 18 May 2012 commemorates the men known to have died in constructing the monumentally over-engineered Forth rail bridge. The death toll was played down at the time, but recent research has revealed at least 78 deaths. Men of all ages (from 16 to 61) and callings died, including such curious trades as "rivet catcher".
