Site of Hest Bank station, West Coast Main Line 1998
View southwards, towards Lancaster, Preston etc.: ex-LNWR (Lancaster & Carlisle section) of the WCML, electrified in 1974 and after the station had been closed since 3/2/69. On the right can be seen a bit of Morecambe Bay, here at Hest Bank being the only spot where the 400-mile WCML actually touched the coast. The Up empties train of SD4666 : Site of Hest Bank station, West Coast Main Line 1998 is receding southwards.
