Bobbers Mill Road: St Stephen - font and font cover
St Stephen’s, by W D Caröe, replaced a church lost when Victoria Station was built in the centre of the city, and it was paid for by the Great Central Railway company – see SK5541 : Plaque: St Stephen's, Bobbers Mill Road. The stone font, from the original St Stephen’s on Bunkers Hill, dates from 1891 and was given in memory of Samuel Taylor Thraves. The wooden cover was given as a memorial to George Francis Cooper who died in 1897.
