TQ3770 : Beckenham Place, Beckenham Place Park

The west portico is of a different flavour to the rest of the house (TQ3870 : Beckenham Place Park), and that's because most of it started life attached to Wricklemarsh House, Blackheath, designed by John James and built in 1721, and was only brought here after the demolition of the latter in 1787. It's impressive, but architecturally illiterate, e.g. there is no entablature between the Ionic capitals and the pediment. Grade II* listed.
Nowadays the house appears to be used largely as a clubhouse for the public golf course occupying its grounds.
