Gurnard's Head - Pillows
Gurnard's Head - Pillows
Pillow basalts intruded into sediments (these can be seen locally due to a cleavage and metamorphic prograde quartz veins) during the Devonian period. This was in a deep marine environment during a period of extension (causing mafic volcanism). These volcanics have been metamorphosed during orogeny (of Avelonia and Amorica).
