Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, from the train
Beyond the parked cars are areas where dogs are exercised and trained. Beyond these again, the railway line to Brixton and on to Kent, and the foot of Battersea Power Station.
Battersea Dogs and Cats Home
Originally the "Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs", established in Holloway in 1860 by Mrs Mary Tealby. The home moved to Battersea in 1871.
In 2002, the name was changed from "The Battersea Dogs Home" to "The Battersea Dogs and Cats Home" (cats were first admitted in 1883).
