Guide Bridge station - space for the new ticket office
The green stairs on the left indicate where access will be provided directly from the existing road overbridge and bus stop. It is not clear how access will be provided to the opposite platform. The felt-roofed stairs are a replacement for the original footbridge (see LinkExternal link ) and locked when the street-level booking office is closed, reducing access to a dismal entrance via a cobbled access road. The new site and the adjacent car park are built on the site of the sometime fast lines and Manchester-side office buildings, as pictured here: LinkExternal link & here: LinkExternal link.
