Saved from commerce
The venerable St Mary's Priory Church, dating back to perhaps the eleventh century. The actual priory was located a little to the south east - where a supermarket car park now exists. Some of the fabric of the old priory was saved and added to the church - see ST5393 : Entrance from an older time.

The church contains a number of historical remains, including one Henry Marten. He was a close companion of Oliver Cromwell and a signatory to Charles I's death warrant. Following the Restoration, he was imprisoned in a number of places but eventually was kept in Chepstow Castle, where he died in 1680.
