St Mary's Priory church was founded in the eleventh century, and was a much larger estate than is visible today. This part of the church has seen plenty of changes and renovations in its time. In 1701 a storm brought down the tower and in 1841 the aisles were removed, and the eastern end, crossing and transepts were rebuilt.
