The Albert and the Lion, The Promenade, Blackpool
The Albert and the Lion, The Promenade, Blackpool
What was once a branch of Woolworth's retail stores has been converted into a pub by the Wetherspoon's chain. The title acknowledges the famous Marriott Edgar monologue 'The Lion and Albert' written shortly before the building was constructed. Edgar is one of Scotland's most renowned poets, second perhaps only to the legendary William McGonagall. The tragic story of Albert and the Lion can be read here LinkExternal link and heard here LinkExternal link
