The image shows clearly several stages of the forestry sequence; clear fell in the foreground, recently carried out, mature trees in the middle distance, and young trees further away - a paler green, then more mature trees on the skyline northwards. Juvenile saplings are growing well to the right. I am led to believe that the sporadic dead trunks left standing are of no timber value, but are environmentally important as perching facilities for birds of prey.
