Originally the engine house of the iron works, built about 1800, complete with tall chimney stack that was demolished in 1908. In 1910 it became the Forester Training School [labelled as Woodmen's School on the 1922 OS map], and during WWII 400 members of the Women's Land Army were trained there. Since 1972 it has been used as a field studies centre for Bristol schools.
