NT0576 : Fairniehill

taken 4 years ago, near to Philpstoun, West Lothian, Great Britain

This farm is named on the Ordnance Survey 19th century six-inch maps as Easter Pardovan. Bartholomew's early 20th century half-inch maps just call it Pardovan, but the Ordnance survey names it Fairniehill in the late 1940s. Very confusing for future historians and genealogists! In the late 19th century there were mine shafts and an engine house nearby, and the large bing west of the B8046 must have swallowed up some of its land.
