NO6473 : Royal Arch, Main Street

taken 4 years ago, near to Fettercairn, Aberdeenshire, Great Britain

Royal Arch, Main Street
Royal Arch, Main Street
Built in 1861 for the princely sum of 250 to commemorate a visit by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It seems a colossal structure for a small village of only a couple of hundred inhabitants. I notice that it is very well maintained, which is just as well, because a fall of masonry on a passing car or pedestrian doesn't bear thinking about.
