TF4043 : Grassland between the sea banks

taken 4 years ago, near to Freiston Shore, Lincolnshire, Great Britain

Grassland between the sea banks
Grassland between the sea banks
The clefts in the ground look like the ponds that form in saltmarshes, though this field, which is between two sea walls, continues to be drained, by the pumping station at the far end. However, the fields next to it, behind the camera, and extending as far as Frieston Shore, have been allowed to flood, by breaching the outer sea wall, to create extra saltmarsh habitat for the birds.
