Former church hall, Portsmouth Street, Manchester
Former church hall, Portsmouth Street, Manchester
Built as an accompaniment to Holy Name of Jesus (SJ8496 : Holy Name of Jesus, Oxford Road, Manchester) by Edmund Kirby, 1892. Impressive chimneystacks. All in a deep red brick, and while it appears to have terracotta trim, built of nothing else, according to Pevsner, which makes it a fine display of brickwork. Hard to fathom why it isn't listed.
Now the Jabez Clegg "beer hall, bar and restaurant", quenching the thirst of University of Manchester students.
