Poynings Mead
The name of the field according to Seaford's 1839 tithe map that lies on the western side of the Cuckmere River. The field was named after the local medieval landowners, one of whom, once tried to construct a new town on Walls Brow in the distance after the town of Seaford had suffered regular burning and pillaging by the French during the Hundred Years War.
