Rochester: Rochester Bridge
There has been a bridge across the Medway here for centuries. The current bridge serving westbound traffic was built in 1914 and that is the most prominent bridge in this picture. Immediately behind it is the second road bridge, opened in April 1970, alleviating the severe congestion experienced here on what was the main A2 between London and north Kent. Behind both of these, we can also see the substantial girders of the railway bridge.
