The Weymouth Peace Garden was originally a Quaker burial ground, dating back to 1702; a Charles Langrish bought the land from a Mr Peter Lawrence of Middlesex. The plot allowed the disparaged Society to lay their followers to rest in a peaceful spot. There are actually a number of graves of Protestants and other faiths here too. In 1925 the deeds were then given to the local council and in 2008, the Quakers proposed to convert the site into a Peace Garden, which keeps to their ethos nicely. The actual graves remain but the headstones have been moved to the walls.
