The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church
A committee of local Catholic parishioners was formed in 1949 under the name of The Altar Society, to try to establish a church of their own. In 1950 they erected a hut on this bit of land, and the present church was built as a result of their efforts, and opened in time for Christmas 1976.

The church is dedicated to St Gilbert, a local saint and founder of a 12th century monastic order around Sempringham; and more recently to the Sacred Heart, in recognition of the order called the Fathers of the Sacred Heart, who were instrumental in helping with the creation of the congregation.

The church is now the parish church for Catholics from Bourne and Corby Glen, and is part of the district managed from Grantham.
