River Etherow
River Etherow
Not that long ago perhaps 40 or so years the River Etherow was very badly polluted, there were particles suspended in the water and the river bed was coated in a black slime, the pollution was so bad I doubt that the river held any wild life. The improvement in the water quality is remarkable, now trout can often be seen rising to take flies off the water surface.
