SP9408 : Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca - False Chanterelles

taken 4 years ago, near to Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire, Great Britain

Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca - False Chanterelles
Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca - False Chanterelles
I am pretty confident that this fungus is Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca, the False Chanterelle - due mainly to (a) the orangeness of it (particularly its underside), (b) that it has true gills rather than folds, (c) that many caps are almost circular rather than being wavy and (d) that the rim of the cap is involuted (rolled in on itself). However, see SP9408 : False Chanterelles (Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca) for much more information about how this species compares with the true Chanterelle.
