SP9308 : Stereum hirsutum (probably)

taken 4 years ago, near to Cholesbury, Buckinghamshire, Great Britain

Stereum hirsutum (probably)
Stereum hirsutum (probably)
I might be going out on a limb a bit here, saying that this fungus is Stereum hirsutum as there are several species of bracket fungi that it might be - but I believe this to be the most likely.
Described as "inedible", it is quite unlikely that anyone has ever attempted to eat this fungus as it is probably as tough as the old bit of wood that it itself is feeding on!
