Vernatt's Drain at Pode Hole
Named after Sir Philibert Vernatti, one of the "Adventurers" who constructed it in 1637, this is an entirely artificial waterway, discharging through a sluice on the Welland to the seaward side of Spalding. (see TF2829 : Vernatt's Sluice near Surfleet)

The building on the left is the former pumping station and current depot of the Welland & Deepings Internal Drainage Board.
