Emerging from the eastern portal of the Neidpath Tunnel
The Symington, Biggar and Broughton railway was extended to Peebles in 1860; this part of the line was finally closed in 1954. The trackbed is currently informally used as a footpath; there are plans to upgrade it for use as a cycle path.

These cyclists are emerging from the 491 metre long Neidpath tunnel on a survey ride. Quite a scary experience as the tunnel is curved, and the floor littered with debris.
