New footbridge over the River Tweed
New footbridge over the River Tweed
The Innerleithen and Peebles railway was opened in 1864 and finally closed in 1962. A new foot- and cycle-path which largely follows the trackbed of the old railway was opened in 2011. It incorporates a striking new footbridge where the line crossed the River Tweed.
