Looking across towards Ashton's market hall from the steps of the town hall Looking from behind one of the two Turkish field guns, captured Candia during the occupation of Crete in 1897-8, which were presented to the trustees of the Manchester Regiment in 2002 (Ashton Town Hall hosts the Museum of the Manchester Regiment).

The market hall (which dates from Victorian times) reopened in 2008, rebuilt after the 2004 fire which destroyed the roof and the interior. It is a Grade II Listed Building (English Heritage ID:212665 LinkExternal link British Listed Buildings).
