Kings Cross frontage, revealed
I have been arriving at Kings Cross from Yorkshire since the mid 1970's. Thursday 10 Oct 2013 was the first time I have been able to view the whole of the original frontage of the station. For so many years this open space in front was covered by a dreary entrance hall built in 1972. Over the past 3 years the station has been transformed, first by building the new bright and spacious entrance concourse on the west side of the building, and then by demolishing the buildings at the front. This square was opened 2 weeks previously, at the end of September 2013, revealing the frontage of the station as designed by Lewis Cubitt. I'd just arrived on Thursday at 9am on a bright cold morning, and was pleased to spend a few minutes looking at the new view.
