"A gem of a Victorian church" says Douglas Hickman. "Designed by William Bassett, this complete replica of a 13th-century shrine was erected in 1878, at the expense of Canon E. Thoyts, in memory of his parents, and possibly occupies the site of a chantry chapel mentioned as early as the beginning of the 13th century...the congregation has dwindled away."
