The start of the Walna Scar Road
The start of the Walna Scar Road
The Walna Scar Road connects Dunnerdale with Coniston. It is a very popular route for hillwalkers, usually starting from Coniston rather than here. But it climbs to over 600m (2,000ft) and is certainly 'Unfit for cars'. I cannot imagine any vehicle, apart perhaps from a rugged mountain bike, negotiating it successfully.
