Bruff 2 row potato planter
Bruff 2 row potato planter
Part of a display by a vintage preservation group with a theme of "Potatoes, from field to plate". featuring a range of machinery that often features on geograph as a rusty hedge row farm machinery relic.
Bruff farm machinery was made in Worcestershire. Two operators sat on the wooden bench each side of the machine, your legs disappeared somewhere underneath and you place potatoes from the bulk hopper into the cups on the belt that move before you. The potatoes dropped down from the belt and the angled disc moulded the soil over the potato to form a ridge. The tractor is an International Harvester model in original condition that was sent over from America through the Lend Lease scheme.
