The museum is on the site of (the famous fossil collector) Mary Anning's house. In 1901 one Thomas Philpot - relative of another fossil hunter, Elizabeth Philpot - commissioned this building; George Vialls designed it. See SY3492 : Museum lookout for another view of the top.
