Manchester City Academy Arena
Manchester City’s new youth development and first team training centre, the City Football Academy, was opened on December 8, 2014 by former City manager and captain, Tony Book. The impressive arena, just across the road from the Etihad Stadium, was built on an 80-acre brownfield site which was formerly home to Clayton Aniline, a company which produced dyestuffs. The firm disbanded in 2004 leaving the site derelict and by the time construction of the academy began in 2012, the site was little more than wasteland.
