Entrance to Langmoor Gardens
Entrance to Langmoor Gardens
The gardens were originally created in the early part of the twentieth century. However, coastal erosion became an unavoidable problem and in 2006-7 the entire gardens were dug up to restore stability to the soils. Nesting bats were carefully moved, slow-worms were captured and released elsewhere and the gardens replanted to attract more wildlife. The result was acknowledged when it fought off stiff opposition and won the prestigious British Association of Landscape Industries award.
