It's rather a pity that this plain sign replaced the rather nice sign used when the building was James' pub and restaurant. That sign was a portrait of King James I of England (VI of Scotland), who was on the throne at the time this house was built. The old sign can be seen in this photograph from 2008 by Philip Halling:- SO7875 : Bailiffs House, Bewdley.
